MCEDO (Mathare Children Educational Development Organization) Beijing School is a non-formal school which was founded by peers from the community who had some teaching background in 2000. The idea was arrived at after observing keenly that there were very many OVC (Orphaned and Vulnerable Children) in the Mathare Slums and they saw a need to not only offer free or affordable education to them but to also offer food, talent promotions, counselling and at times shelter.

It stands for our belief that stabilizing youth directly effects the stability of communities and societies in a positive and sustainable way.
