Our Impact
At PaaMoja Initiative, we are committed to driving and sustaining positive change in the Mathare community.
Since our inception, we have worked with local and international partners to undertake education and awareness-building programs which spawn opportunities for Mathare's residents.
Since 2013, PaaMoja Initiative has:
- Trained more than 2,000 adolescent and youth on sexual reproductive health and rights, leadership, life skills and entrepreneurship;
- Recruited and trained more than 100 program facilitators – 50:50 male and female.
- Acquired strategic and implementation partnerships with more than 10 local and global organizations;
- Developed three training manuals – AdoleCHAT! Sekete – The Real Sex Talk and Decent Income Youth Empowerment Program (DIYEP);
- published two SITAN Reports - SITUATIONAL ANALYSIS ON THE STATUS OF VIOLENCE AGAINST CHILDREN & ADOLESCENTS IN MATHARE 4A SUB-LOCATION IN UTALII WARD KASARANI SUB-COUNTY NAIROBI COUNTY, KENYA and BASELINE STUDY ON THE STATUS OF LIVELIHOOD GENDER GAPS OF MALE AND FEMALE YOUTH - AGED 17-25 YEARS - FROM MATHARE SLUMS, MATHARE SUB-COUNTY, NAIROBI COUNTY, KENYA;
- Developed two programs from SITAN findings – DIYEP and Watoto Pamoja with MOVE92 and CRVPF respectively;
- Co-organized two social-entrepreneurship conferences with The JUMP! Foundation dubbed RUKA! Leadership Program bringing together more than 100 youth from Nairobi’s underserved communities to access, trainings, peers, mentors and seed funding to kickstart or bolster their social impact journey.
