PROGRAM OVERVIEW

About BETTER ME

The BETTER ME Program is a holistic life skills and empowerment initiative crafted to equip underserved youth aged 20–27 in Mathare with the tools necessary for conscious personal, social, and economic decision-making.
Confronted with limited mentorship, low financial literacy, and a lack of support networks, many young people in informal settlements experience heightened anxiety while navigating unsafe social terrains. BETTER ME was designed specifically to address these gaps.
The program addresses growth across four foundational thematic pillars: Leadership Development — building leadership identity and community engagement; SRHR Awareness — informed decision-making around sexual and reproductive health; Financial Literacy — practical budgeting, savings, and investment skills; and Holistic Health and Wellbeing — mental health strategies and restorative practices.
BETTER ME utilizes interactive workshops, peer role-plays, individual coaching, team-building activities, and restorative yoga sessions — creating a comprehensive, safe, and empowering experience for every participant.
