Averie Gachuhi first came to Mathare in 2009 as a student. She postponed her return and stayed to volunteer in the community.

Upon returning home, Averie who is also our patron raised money for Mathare by sharing her experience with her family and friends - and she has been fundraising for us ever since. Averie continued to support our programs on-the-ground when she lived in Kenya from 2010-2012 as a trainer for our Adole Chat! Program. She holds a MSc in Reproductive Health and has helped us develop our curricula and training programs on the topic.

Averie works in global health and lives in New York City with her husband.
