Jesse Jacktone
Project Coordinator
Born in the rural Kenya and raised in Mathare Slums, Jesse has gained much experience by living in the sprawling slums of Mathare – the second biggest slum in Kenya - whereby he became accustomed to the difficulties of this diverse and beautiful community. He is proud to be made in Mathare.
He completed his high school in 2014 courtesy of a 4-year scholarship secured via CMETrust; a scholarship program that helps needy but bright scholars from Mathare Slums.
Recently, Jesse graduated from NairoBits School of Digital Design where he learnt graphic design and website development. He is currently using the IT skills acquired to promote the work of PaaMoja Initiative - an organization that empowers individuals from Mathare Slums and beyond to acquire and practice life skills, access resources, design & execute community development programs and most significantly give back to the community - digitally.
He is also part of the RUKA! Youth Leadership Conference organizing team. The conference happening this June in Nairobi, Kenya, is a partnership between the JUMP! Foundation and PaaMoja Initiative.
He is also the chairperson of CMETrust alumni group and he is in-charge of Mathare in Focus calendar program.
He aspires to be a social entrepreneur in the future in order to eradicate poverty and bring forth positive attitude about life to the hopeless in slums and rural sectors.
Jesse likes spending his free time with friends, watching movies, riding bicycle and exploring new places.
