Lucas Odhiambo
Facilitator
Lucas Odhiambo is currently a student at Moi University, one of the leading public university in Kenya, taking a bachelor’s degree in communications and public relations as a major.
He is among the very first few students from Mathare to receive a scholarship from the Kenyan government through the joint admission board that give scholarships to bright student from Kenyan high schools through provision of loans and subsidize school fee.
Lucas was born and grew up the in slum of Mathare together with his siblings and is well conversant with the challenges that most people go through in the slum.
Lucas is also among the pioneer members of PaaMoja Initiative and has consistently served as a senior facilitator and also a trainer and mentor to the young facilitators joining the initiative. Through his vast experience and knowledge in adolescence education he was among the panel that participated in reviewing and coming up with the current Adole Chat! Program curriculum the initiative uses in its primary school sessions.
He is also involved in other community works with the real Mathare football club as program manager, MCEDO School as constant volunteer and other CBOs in Mathare.
Lucas enjoys playing rugby, watching football, writing and reading political editorials.
